The Association of Hotel Professionals-Kenya held its 4th Annual General Meeting on 9 December 2023 at Utalii Hotel, bringing together members, industry stakeholders and invited guests to review the Association’s progress, financial position, membership development and priorities for the year ahead. Main content: The Association of Hotel Professionals-Kenya (AHPK) held its 4th Annual General Meeting on 9 December 2023 at Utalii Hotel. The meeting provided members with an opportunity to review the Association’s activities, governance and financial position, while also discussing key priorities for the continued growth and professionalisation of Kenya’s hospitality industry. During the AGM, members received and adopted the Chairman’s Annual Report, the audited financial statements and Auditor’s Report for the year ended 31 December 2022, as well as the proposed 2024 budget. Agoro & Associates were also re-appointed as the Association’s auditors for a further one-year term. The Chairman’s report highlighted several strategic areas, including membership growth, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), efforts towards strengthening professional regulation, networking with local and international industry organisations, and the need to improve the Association’s financial sustainability. Members were encouraged to continue developing their professional and academic qualifications in response to the rapidly changing hospitality industry. The AGM also considered and adopted a number of Management Board resolutions relating to membership subscriptions, annual membership certification, committee structures and changes in the Association’s management leadership. Charles Kinyua was approved as Honorary Treasurer and Wilson Mwangi as Honorary Secretary. The formal AGM session was followed by the presentation of membership certificates and awards. Caroline Njeri Mwangi, Julius Kiptoo Chumo and Elizabeth Ndabi were recognised as full members, while Prof. Charles Musyoki was conferred with Honorary Membership. Wasike C. Wasike was also recognised for Fellow Membership, with the conferment ceremony to be held at a special forum. Guest speaker Prof. Charles Musyoki encouraged hospitality professionals to uphold good governance and industry best practices, noting the important role professionals play in strengthening Kenya’s position as a preferred tourism destination. The Association thanked its members, invited guests, Utalii Hotel management, the Management Board and Management Committee for their contribution towards the successful AGM. The meeting concluded at 6:45 PM, followed by dinner. For the website fields, I would use: Event date: 9 December 2023 Venue: Utalii Hotel Category: AGM / Association Event
